Hammerhead is building the operating system that will power the sport of cycling. Its revolutionary Karoo cycling computer has been taking users’ rides to the next level since 2018, and its frequent software releases continue to bring new advancements to the cycling experience. Hammerhead is a global company, with its primary office in Midtown Manhattan.
We are seeking the Lead Product Designer in our HQ office (NYC) to bring well designed software to the cycling market. The successful candidate will be responsible for core UI/UX on both the Karoo cycling computer and online Web Dashboard. They will report directly to the head of product. This role requires understanding of the cycling market, and extensive experience in mobile UI/UX. Intuit our customers needs to produce compelling design
Building features that will delight cyclists requires you to understand the use case intuit their needs. You must have a deep sense of the sport, or be willing to immerse yourself in the sport, fully confident in your ability to rapidly learn its nuances.
As the Lead Product Designer, you will:
Help to define a culture of customer centricity. Develop a clear understanding of customers and their needs by creating a culture of customer development such as running regular interviews and user tests.
Set the vision for the user experience on the Karoo and future product lines by establishing a clear solution to our customer needs. Lead design projects across the entire product lifecycle and multiple product launches. You set the vision for the user experience and create the space for others to collaborate.
Implement a product design process that is lean and relies on iterative feedback to ensure proposed solutions meet customer needs. Set the cadence for when we involve customers through our product development cycle. You will find ways to quickly test and gather feedback on your proposed solutions. You will iterate on valid feedback and know when to cut your losses.
Work cross-functionally to deliver on the UX vision. Partner closely with engineering, product, and growth to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges. You’ll provide the thought leadership to develop the right product strategy. Together, you’ll solve problems and come up with solutions that delight our users. You will grow the consistency of the Hammerhead brand, maintaining assets, branding material and overall use of design in product, marketing and through our e-commerce store.
Be autonomous and move fast in a rapidly growing environment. Identify opportunities and take full ownership of them. You will take responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way.
Qualifications and skills:
You have 5 years of experience designing consumer-facing products.
You have mastery of your craft to turn insights into designed products, both interaction and visual design, having shipped many consumer products over the years, and understand what it takes to create awesome, consumer-oriented experiences.
You’re a great communicator.
You have a people-focused design mentality. Constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback. Whether through hands-on user research or live production testing.
You have an online portfolio, or PDF that you can share with us. A link to your online portfolio, or a PDF, is required. Applications without a portfolio are unlikely to be considered.
You have experience in mobile.
You must be authorized to work in the United States.
